Interactive Mars Week Activity
To celebrate Mars Week, let’s take a look at human interaction with Mars through time!

Early human interaction with Mars

The Ancient Egyptians were the first to notice that the stars seem “fixed” and that the sun moves relative to the stars.

They also noticed 5 bright objects in the sky (Mercury, Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and Saturn) that seemed to move in a similar manner.

They called Mars ‘Har-Decher’, or ‘the red one’.
